Promoting Excellence In Psychological Health & Wellbeing

University of Bolton External Supervisors

04 May 18

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapists to become recommended as an external clinical supervisor for students studying on the MSc/PGDip Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapies programme at the University of Bolton.

Students are required to access externally provided clinical supervision during the course. Our students seek to arrange their external clinical supervision with a self-employed external clinical supervisor from a list of recommended supervisors suggested by the programme.

Applicants who would like to become a recommended external supervisor will be enthusiastic in their contribution to training the CBT therapists of the future. They will have a passion for providing excellent clinical supervision and will be committed to their own continuing professional development as a clinical supervisor. Applicants will have demonstrable clinical and supervisory experience and must be fully accredited by the BABCP as a CBT practitioner. BABCP accreditation as a clinical supervisor is desirable and applicants should be working towards supervisor accreditation if they don’t already possess it. Applicants will be available for weekly supervision with the trainee therapists.

Applicants will be required to attend an initial induction day to orientate to the programme (to be held in August 2018) as well as an annual Continuing Professional Development day at the University.

Applications are welcomed from accredited private supervisors from areas across Lancashire, Cumbria, Greater Manchester, Yorkshire, Cheshire and North Wales. The bulk of our students are as far north as Cumbria and Lancaster, as far East as mid Yorkshire, as far south as Cheshire and as far West as Wirral and North Wales.

If you would like to apply to become a recommended external clinical supervisor for students on the programme, please send an up-to-date CV to Mel Greenhalgh, Programme Lead for Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapies Courses at This email address is being protected from spambots.
