University of Bolton - applications welcome for their PGDip Course commencing Jan 2020

The Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapies team at the University of Bolton are currently welcoming applications for their Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip) Course in Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapies commencing in January 2020.

The course has been developed for people who wish to practice using a cognitive behavioural approach in one or more of the following settings - the helping or health professions, private practice, or management roles where working with people is the prime focus. The two-year part-time course will give you a full understanding of the principles and practice of cognitive behavioural psychotherapies. A strong basis of theoretical psychology underpins the course to ensure your practice-related learning is not separated from its primary academic base. You will study practical aspects of cognitive behavioural psychotherapies such as basic principles and techniques as well as assessment and formulation. You will also consider wider issues such as the evaluation of literature, disorder-specific models and protocols, therapeutic practice, research methods, evidence based-practice, professional issues and ethical practice. Over the course of your studies you will gain a minimum of 200 hours experience of working with clients in a clinical setting through supervised clinical practice placements arranged on an individual basis by you. The course team pride themselves on the high standards and quality of teaching and supervision provided on the course.
Your level of academic performance and ability to work independently will be taken into consideration in your application. This course is a Level 2 Accredited training course with BABCP. This means that on completion of the course, students will have met all of the training requirements for practitioner accreditation by the BABCP. In the event that you do not hold a core profession according to BABCP criteria, on entry to the course you will provide a KSA portfolio of evidence designed to meet the BABCP criteria for accreditation.
Teaching is delivered using a variety of methods including lectures, seminars, skills training and practice. You will be assessed on the basis of essays, seminar presentations, case studies, skills assessments, and written and verbal reports. Teaching staff on this course are accredited therapists with extensive knowledge and clinical experience in the field.

Entry requirements include:
*A minimum of an upper second class (2.1) honours degree in a cognate discipline (with high grades in relevant modules);
*A Level 3 certificate in counselling skills (or equivalent); Previous experience of counselling/therapy and/or client work (normally 200 hours);
*A draft KSA Portfolio of evidence of your knowledge, skills and attitudes relevant to working as a cognitive behavioural psychotherapist (details of this will be sent to you prior to interview or please visit the BABCP website: http://www.babcp.com/Accreditation/CBP/KSA.aspx);
*Access to clients once clinical practice modules commence (usually via arrangement of a voluntary placement);
