Job Vacancy: Research Therapist (University of Chester)

Job title: Research Therapist (0.1FTE, fixed term contract until 18/09/2018)
Salary: £29,799 - £32,548 Per Annum, Pro Rata

Applications are invited for the position of Research Therapist in the Department of Psychology at the University of Chester. The successful appointee will primarily work with an established team based at the University leading on the development of an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) based psychological intervention for people with cancer who are transitioning into palliative care services.The intervention is being evaluated using a multiple case-series design. This project is being run in collaboration with the University of Edinburgh and Marie Curie Hospices UK. The post-holder will be expected to deliver the intervention to participants at the Marie Curie Hospice in Liverpool. The post available from 12th March 2018 (or as soon as possible thereafter) for a period of 6 months.

The appointee may also be asked to contribute to other tasks in the day-to-day work of the research team as commensurate with the grade of appointment.

Successful applicants need to be sufficiently qualified to deliver psychological therapies (post-graduate clinical/counselling psychology training as accredited by the British Psychological Society or accredited as a cognitive behavioural psychotherapist by the British Association of Cognitive & Behavioural Psychotherapies). Applicants will ideally have good knowledge and relevant experience of using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and of working with clients in a cancer and/or palliative care setting. Some experience of conducting research in applied settings is desirable. Successful applicants will have a commitment to high quality, impactful research, and must be willing and able to travel between the University of Chester and the Liverpool-based Hospice as required to fulfil the needs of this post.
