The School of Psychology wishes to appoint 4 Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTAs) to support teaching in core areas of the discipline.

Appointees should have a strong commitment to research and should be keen to combine studying for a higher degree with the acquisition of teaching experience. Part-time MPhil/PhD registration fees will be covered by the School. All appointees will be supported by a supervisory team with complimentary expertise as well as through a teaching mentor. Applicants are encouraged to specify their research interests as part of the application process.

The School of Psychology is part of the College of Science and Technology and is located in the purpose-built Darwin Building. The School is well resourced, with an extensive range of state-of-the-art laboratories and equipment, including a Health Psychology Suite, an Observational Suite and a Brain Imaging Laboratory, with the latter housing neuroimaging facilities such as EEG/ERP, EMG, TMS, tDCS, fNIRS and fTCD. The School offers staff a supportive and collegiate environment, with carefully managed teaching and administration loads. The School has a thriving community of PhD and MSc students and has particularly strong links with international universities, NHS hospital trusts, schools and community group.

Essential criteria for the post in relation to qualifications and experience include having an honours degree in psychology or a closely related discipline and experience of working in a relevant subject area. In terms of skills, the essential criteria include having proven practical and theoretical skills in a relevant subject area, good communication and presentation skills and the ability to work effectively and efficiently as an individual and as a member of a team.
